David Heinemeier Hansson says the IT Department is coming to an end.

DHH could have said this for a number of reasons:
  1. He has never worked in an “IT Department” before
  2. He’s been watching too many episodes of Outsourced
  3. He doesn’t talk to his elderly relatives
  4. His elderly relatives live in Silicon Valley

I have great respect for this guy.I mean, the guy created “Ruby on Rails”! but really? IT Department coming to an end…?

Gruber man from DF points us to a neat quote of Upton Sinclair:

It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends upon his not understanding it.

[Full disclosure: I currently work in an IT Department. But that's precisely why i'm so sure there needs be an IT Department. David should try attending calls. He would shove that foot so far down his throat].

How to compete with free via Daring Fireball The message for us web designers couldn’t possibly be more poweful than this:

There is something that competes with free: Easy! Simple trumps complete.

Nokia X5
This was posted on Daring Fireball. Seriously what is that color! Kind of reminds me of the first Android prototypes back in 2007 (which are also hideous come to think of it). Gruber says Android’s design today, is what it is, only because of the iPhone. I say, thank god for the iPhone.. I’m still with Android thank you.
