Kuwaiti ISPs recently kicked up a row with their Network Bandwidth Caps (watch the youtube video). I run a WebServer and plenty of other apps that use the bandwidth like nobodys business. So I scoured the web for free software that would tell me which apps on my Mac/PC were guzzling my bandwidth. These were the only ones I could find that were free and presented the data application wise. Enjoy:

For the Mac: Little Snitch

For Windows: Netlimiter (Register and get the Monitor app for free)

I use a common KeePass .kdb database file for both the Mac and my PC, which I keep synced through Dropbox. I noticed that Google Chrome on Windows appends “- Google Chrome” to the title of the window. So my Auto-Type feature of KeePass was not working without two Auto-Type entries for the same password. This was a pain until I read this post.

Solution: The Auto-Type feature takes in wild cards :D. So instead of:
  • Auto-Type-Window: Twitter
  • Auto-Type-Window: Twitter – Google Chrome
I can just have:
  • Auto-Type-Window: Twitter*
